Sad Dog Left At Shelter After Family Decides Not To Keep Him

Hunter believed he lived in a permanent home with people who would adore him forever. Sadly, he was mistaken.

The Texas shelter, Houston Humane Society, received the 6-year-old puppy last week. Hunter’s previous owners informed the employees there that they had opted not to keep him since he didn’t get along with their new puppy.

Hunter, of course, was not told why, but it quickly became apparent that he had understood the message.

For the past seven years, Randi Bertholet has volunteered at the humane society. She was one of the first people to speak with Hunter after his life was turned upside down.

“When I initially approached the kennel, I didn’t even notice a dog inside until I turned to check in the corner. Bertholet stated to The Dodo, “I observed him paralyzed in panic, attempting to make himself invisible. “I moved away from him and sat down on the ground, waiting for him to approach me. He approached me with caution after a little while.

Then Hunter lost it, realizing he could trust Bertholet.

Bertholet could only do so much to comfort Hunter. He had every reason to be upset about what he was going through.

“I was so heartbroken for him,” Bertholet said. “I cried that night while laying in my warm bed with my dogs, thinking about him in there alone and scared.”

After posting the video above to social media, others began learning of Hunter’s sad situation, too. And as word spread, adoption offers came pouring in. So, with any luck, Hunter won’t be long without the love, companionship and commitment every dog like him deserves.
