Monique’s life is nothing like that of most chickens.
Guirec Soudée, her best friend, is sailing across the world with her.
When he was 18 years old, Soudée left France to see the world. He met Monique on the Canary Islands and carried her along on his journey in the hopes that she would produce eggs for him to eat. Monique proved everyone wrong when he was informed that a hen would never produce eggs at sea.
Monique shown her ability to manage any situation from the moment she arrived at the sea. She strolled around the boat like an expert, catching flying fish that dropped on the deck and catching herself numerous times before going overboard.
Monique may be a chicken, but she appears to have been born to sail the world’s waters.
Virgine Nolen-Laissy, the duo’s onshore affairs manager, told The Dodo, “They are now at the west coast of Greenland till the middle of July.” “When the ice melts, they’ll take the legendary North West Passage through the Arctic Ocean to join the Pacific.”
During their travels, Monique has accompanied Soudée on many of his adventures, like surfing, and is learning how to surf the waves like a pro.
Monique loves to help with the upkeep of the boat keeping track of their journeys and is very curious about how everything works.
Monique may be the world’s only sailing, surfing, and skating chicken, and Soudée enjoys having her join him on all of his exploits.
