Earlier this week a caring trooper from the New York State Police saved the life of a bald eagle. The injured bird found itself on the side of a busy highway, and the authorities had to move fast to rescue it

A motorist alerted the police, after spotting the majestic bird on Route 17 in the town of Blooming Grove, Orange County. Within minutes, trooper Bryan Whalen made his appearance on the scene and rescued the poor eagle. The bald eagle was injured, as the NYSP wrote in a Facebook post, and it was immediately taken to a Rehab Facility in New Paltz.

According to NYSP’s Facebook post, “a driver phoned SP Middletown to report an injured bald eagle on the side of ST-17 in the Town of Blooming Grove.” “Trooper Whalen was able to corral the eagle and securely place it into a kennel that was provided by the Warwick Valley Animal Rescue by using his Division-issued jacket and a K9 Trooper’s bite sleeve. The Eagle was then given to Officer Nicole Duchene from the Department of Environmental Conservation, who drove it to a rehab center in New Paltz for more care.

The eagle received the necessary medical attention and is currently recovering. The famous bird will be returned to the wild after it has healed completely. Congrats, Trooper Whalen!
