One day, Tia Belton was eager to see her puppy, Reese, when she got home from work. Unexpectedly, Reese was alone outdoors, rummaging in a garbage as she pulled up to her apartment. Belton was furious and puzzled as to how Reese had managed to escape the flat.
Belton told The Dodo, “I was upset since my Reese never goes off and doesn’t especially love running outside. “The trash in our apartment complex is not at all close to my flat. It bothered me too much that she was sniffing about the dumpster when she usually simply relaxes in the sun.
Belton called for Reese, and she came running over to the car immediately. She jumped in and Belton parked and then carried Reese up to the apartment. She was still feeling a little annoyed at Reese — when she opened the door and saw Reese already inside waiting for her.
Belton looked at the dog in her arms who was not Reese but looked exactly like her and quickly realized her mistake. The mystery dog, who she later figured out is named Bella, didn’t seem to mind the mix-up at all.
“I was shook and embarrassed. How dare I not recognize my own baby?” Belton said. “Bella just hopped on my couch with Reese like it was the parent trap or something.”
While Bella settled almost immediately, Reese was really unimpressed and was little perplexed as to why her mother had brought home her twin.
Despite how adorable Bella was and how much she resembled Reese, Belton was aware that it was likely the case that she had gotten lost and that her family was searching for her. Belton immediately began her search for them.
Bella’s family got in touch with her three days later after Belton put up fliers, went out with Reese and Bella, and did some research. Belton and Reese bid farewell to Reese’s unexpected twin before the adorable dog was reunited with her family. Belton understood the look-alike dog’s mystery and took away a valuable lesson from the experience.
Belton was forced to think about Reese’s potential desire for a brother by Bella and Reese.
