The Cyclist Rescues The Abandoned Puppies By Carrying Them In His Shirt

Thyago Costa Silva, a professional cyclist, was out riding with a friend earlier this month when he noticed something on the side of the road.

Silva noticed five little puppies there, fighting in a large hole.

He told The Dodo that they were quite far away and in a rural area. They were dug out and abandoned there to die. They were helpless and unable to flee.

Silva and his friend understood they had to help.

Silva and his companion provided the puppies water from their bottles after gently removing each dog from the hole.

They were starving and thirsty to death, Silva claimed. They only wished to live.

The riders had given the pups hope, so.

With no other means of carrying the puppies to safety, Silva and his friend placed the puppies in their shirts — and rode them the 12-mile journey home.

“It was very emotional,” Silva said.

Once back, Silva continued to help the puppies regain their strength.

“I took them home and took care of them,” Silva said.

But he did more than just that.

Silva spread the news about the five puppies he had found, and soon each one had what they most desperately needed.

All of them were adopted by kind individuals who value animals, Silva added. Oh, thank God.

What began as a heart-wrenching scene on a remote bike trail ended in the sweetest way imaginable. Rescued from the verge of death, the puppies’ futures now has never looked brighter.

“They will have a better life,” Silva said. “I’m sure they will be well taken care of. This makes me so happy.”
