Raccoon Continues To Return To Swim In Woman’s Pool

In her Toronto, Canada, backyard the other morning, Maddie Altman saw something peculiar. She saw some wet marks on the cement as she rounded the corner and headed toward her pool. She then discovered moist paw tracks.

Then she caught sight of the person who had deserted them: this raccoon.

“His fur was wet, so I thought he fell [into the pool],” Altman told The Dodo.

She believed the pudgy raccoon had slipped into the water by accident and, perhaps after some struggle, was lucky to have made it out to dry land on his own — but she couldn’t have been more wrong.

It had been no accident.

When Altman checked by a little while later, the raccoon was back in the pool for another dip.

Altman said, “I was actually astonished. “Let alone swim in our pool, I’ve never seen a raccoon!”

The raccoon had no trouble at all getting in or out of Altman’s pool and seemed to be quite content there.

He went up the steps! said Altman. “I found it to be really cute. He appeared to be completely at ease.

These are probably not the raccoon’s final visits.

It seems sense that a hairy raccoon could be seeking some cooling off given how hot the weather has been lately. Altman may have attempted to send the man away, but why spoil such a cute scene?

Of course it’s hot outside. She understands.

“I completely understand the feeling of being too hot. Altman added, “I would welcome him back any time he pleases to cool down. I was more than delighted to let him swim unbothered.”
