Man Steps Into His Garage And Suddenly Feels Like He’s Being Watched

For one Australian homeowner, a typical day last month rapidly turned into something pretty unsettling. The man had the strangest sense that he was being watched as he went to his car in the garage to drive to work.

He was accurate.

There, above him in the garage, was a 6-foot-long coastal carpet python curled comfortably among the rafters. Perhaps awoken by the man’s presence, the scaly surprise visitor apparently decided to pop her head out as if to say, “Good morning to you.”

That little greeting, however, was not so well-received.

In an instant, the man’s plans suddenly changed. He simply couldn’t muster the courage to walk beneath the snake to reach his car — effectively making him a hostage in his own home.

So, rather than heading to work as usual, the man was instead on the phone with Stewy Lalor from Elite Snake Catching Services in Brisbane. The python, meanwhile, seemed a little perplexed by all the commotion she’d caused.

And she had good reason to be confused.

Coastal carpet pythons may have a menacing appearance, yet they are not dangerous to people, as Lalor the snake catcher subsequently noted. To assist this homeowner in leaving, he walked ahead and led the snake out of the garage.

Lalor told Chinchilla News, “He was going to leave for work but couldn’t get into this automobile,” adding that an intervention like this isn’t really required. “Education plays a significant role in what we do. However, if someone has a severe fear, we will come collect it if we can avoid moving them.”

Even if the “issue” was never truly a problem in the first place, it was nonetheless a wonderful morning.
