A recent video captures the magical moment when a mother humpback whale and a mother dolphin reunite their families.

A humpback whale and her calf swim alongside a mother dolphin and her youngster in footage captured by a drone. Despite the fact that the humpbacks dwarf the dolphins, the two families glide calmly beside one another.

The humpbacks follow closely behind the relaxed dolphins, and at times the mother humpback appears to be just inches away from the dolphin mother’s tail; it appears to be a conscious decision on the part of the mothers to bring their little families close together; the humpbacks follow closely behind the relaxed dolphins, and at times the mother humpback appears to be just inches away from the dolphin mother’s tail.

Despite their differences in size, humpbacks and dolphins have developed cross-species friendships on multiple occasions, and they’ve even been seen playing together.
