After losing her own kid, a devastated mother horse adopts an orphan newborn foal, as observed by this veterinarian in the Netherlands. Dr. Patrick Brogan even photographed the event, and one of the images went viral. The scenario once again demonstrates that the sweet creatures we refer to as “farm animals” have sentiments just like humans!

The touching photo shows Zindita, a young mare, snuggling up to a helpless little foal immediately after they met on a Dutch farm!

The photo description reads, “Two days ago, a group of people gathered together, working as a team.” “Saving a pregnant mare but losing her foal… A group of folks introduced a filly who had lost her mother today, using the same mare as two days before. This photo was shot an hour after the presentation and speaks for itself.”

The pregnant mare’s pregnancy progressed as planned, but when she went into delivery, Dr. Brogan, who had been watching her throughout the pregnancy, sensed something was amiss. Zindita’s baby, however, did not survive.

“I could tell she was struggling,” Dr. Brogan told CTV News. “It was impossible for the mare to bring the foal out.”

Zindita, who is generally a very lively and gentle horse, was unable to cope with the loss. She was despondent and devastated. Her solace, though, had yet to arrive. Dr. Brogan and his colleagues learnt about a baby foal that unfortunately lost its mother during delivery a few days after the awful event. It was then that the vet decided to pair them together, and nothing could have prepared him for what occurred next.

Fortunately, there is a happy ending to this terrible tragedy. The mother horse quickly took the helpless foal under her wing and gave it the love and care she would have given to her own child. The orphan foal, on the other hand, received just what it needed: the warmth of a mother!

The vet stated, “We just placed the two together, easy as that.” “We were fortunate in that this mare was smitten and anxious to be taken. (Zindita) fell in love with it from the moment she arrived.”
