It’s not every day that you hear of a lion befriending another animal, but with the men’s best friend, you never know. Everyone knows how loving dogs are, and this time a big white lion gets a taste of canine companionship.

A chocolate Lab approaches a white lion in his enclosure in a brief adorable video, and what happens next has captured the hearts of millions. The unusual duo appears to be shaking their paws. The lion then appears to seek forgiveness from his friend by licking her small paw, which is a very lovely gesture. Since it was posted on YouTube, the charming video has received over 30 million views.

However, the tender scene did not happen by accident as the two are lifetime companions. Miki the lion was rescued in 2016 and brought to the Black Jaguar-White Tiger Foundation – a Mexico-based nonprofit that specialized in big cats rescue. The massive animal was raised and kept in an apartment just like a regular pet. When found him, Miki was sharing his home with a tiny lab named Camila, so they have been both taken to the shelter.

Miki and Camila naturally had a particular affinity because they were reared together. Despite this, the shelter’s personnel did not consider separating them for even a second. The crew stated, “[They] had been together throughout their lives, long before we rescued them.” “And if they aren’t together, they become quite jittery.”

It is fairly typical for wild animals bred in captivity to create deep bonds with other creatures that they would normally shun in their natural habitat. These unusual partnerships between creatures of other species, on the other hand, are nothing short of a marvel of the world we live in.

“An amazing bond between two friends since they were young,” the video captions. “A mighty white lion and chocolate lab. Watch as the lion goes and kisses the dog’s paw.” Have a look:
