This is Murphy, a jovial canine that enjoys nothing more than meeting new people. He hasn’t actually met a person or animal that he doesn’t like.
However, it turns out that one of Murphy’s most i
ntimate connections is one he has been maintaining covertly.
A couple of months ago, Murphy’s owner, Jo-Hannah Jamieson, let him into the backyard as usual, assuming the pup needed to go out to do his business. But, much to Jamieson’s surprise, she noticed that Murphy was actually mixing “business” with pleasure.
That day, as Jamieson looked on, Murphy made a beeline to the back of the yard. Then, through an opening in the fence, a hand emerged — showering Murphy with pets and scratches.

The hand clearly belongs to Jamieson’s neighbor, who is undoubtedly a dog enthusiast. The exact start date of these brief encounters is unknown. But it hasn’t happened just once.
Jamieson told The Dodo, “Every time I let Murphy out, he walks to the back fence to see whether [my neighbor] is there.” “I believe Murphy gets at least one pet [from him] every day.”
Murphy’s owner showers him with affection and care. However, it seems that the hand is still simply too fantastic to pass up.
Jamieson is sympathetic when asked whether there are any resentments over Murphy’s potential preference for the neighbor’s petting. After all, they had been quite isolated lately.
“He just speaks to me about the lockdown and “work from home.” So, according to Jamieson, I believe he enjoys receiving pets from someone else for a change. But I’m glad he has some social interaction. He certainly enjoys company. Knowing that Murphy has supportive neighbors is good.
Jamieson suggested a real meeting with the neighbor as soon as things started to get back to normal so Murphy could get to know the guy behind the hand. They won’t, however, allow anything as trivial as a fence to keep them apart in the interim.
