When A Woman Picks Up Her Dog From The Groomer She Notices Something Isn’t Quite Right

This is Lucky, a cute, fluffy puppy that adores his mother, Tykesha Cherry, beyond everything else. Nothing, in fact, can keep them apart.

With the exception of an instance of mistaken identification, that is.

Cherry determined Lucky’s curly, white coat of fur had become a touch too long and unkempt earlier this month. So she scheduled a haircut for him at their neighborhood pet groomer.

Cherry had no idea, though, that the groomer would go on to transform more than her dog’s out-of-control appearance.

When Cherry got a call that Lucky was ready to be picked up, she headed right over, asking the lady at the front desk for her dog by name.

“She started bringing a dog towards me, and I thought he looked off a bit,” Cherry told The Dodo. “But I thought to myself it was probably because he just got his hair cut off.”

Cherry carried the dog to her car and gave him a more discerning look.

Cherry assumed Lucky’s hair had been trimmed a little shorter than normal, which was why he appeared to be different. He wasn’t acting quite right, though. Something wasn’t adding up.

Cherry added, “I continued calling him Lucky, and he never replied.”

However, there were minor differences, such as the dog’s general attitude, that didn’t match the dog she adored.

Cherry brought him back to the groomer, convinced that this wasn’t her dog, but rather a lookalike impostor.

Cherry and another woman arrived to the groomer’s shop at the same time. “Hi, Bentley!” the stranger remarked as she turned around to see the puppy in her arms.

“‘Is this your dog?’ I ask. ‘Yes,’ she said “Cherry reminisces. “Everyone’s mouths fell inside the business.”

After all, it hadn’t been Luck. However, everything was quickly put right.

Bentley, like Lucky, was finally reunited with his proper owner. The groomer, no likely shocked by the mix-up, handed Cherry the correct puppy. She didn’t need to double-check this time.

“I had a feeling it was him. All of the same people I recalled rushed in at the same time. It was truly a lovely reunion “Cherry said. “It’s remarkable how much we can tell about a person (even dogs) without even recognizing it.”

The unintentional dog switcheroo wasn’t left unanswered for long, because to Cherry’s affinity with Lucky. Cherry is simply grateful that she recognized the problem so fast.

“I’m also relieved that Lucky didn’t notice me walking away with the other dog,” Cherry said.
