When Hernandez (the protagonist of this novel) lost his two Siberian Huskies, he became devastated. He spent the entire weekend looking for them, but he was unsuccessful. To get out of his yard, the dogs leaped the fence and lost track. He distributed the fliers across his area, hoping that someone would notice them and call him.
Hernandez didn’t know that his furry friends were still safe. They were taken to the Miami-Dade Animal Services after someone found them on the street. Thinking they are stray, the shelter staff help them find a new owner by using them as doggy models for a photoshoot with Ocean Drive Magazine to highlight pet adoption.
His efforts were ultimately repaid. His fliers were seen by the man who located and took his pets to the shelter. The man assured him that his dogs were secure and sent him to the Miami-Dade shelter to get them.
He started crying as he saw his pets standing for the photoshoot in front of the camera. “That’s my dog, dude,” he shouted. That’s my canine companion.” With all his affection, he hugged his pets.
His animal buddies, meanwhile, we’re overjoyed to see him again. He decided to get both of them microchipped so he wouldn’t lose them again.
