Mary McCraw and her husband, Mark, had just lost their rescue dog, Mischka, to cancer a few months earlier They weren’t sure they wanted to fill that void just yet, but then they met Maggie.

“She melted my heart,” McCraw told The Dodo. “We had lost our other dog a few months prior to meeting Maggie, and this was just a meet and greet in my mind. I didn’t think I was ready for a new dog at the time.”

Maggie’s charm was too sweet for the McCraws to resist when Halfway There Rescue organized the meet and greet.

“I knelt down so she wouldn’t be afraid, and she was in my lap and in my life in seconds,” McCraw said. “Her narrative tore our hearts to shreds. It was love at first sight when I met her; there was an instant connection. We had the impression that she was supposed to be with us.”

@pittiesfromheaven This was Demi (now Maggie) meeting her new dad for the very first time. It's like they had known each other for years ❤️😍 this is why we foster. Maggie had been neglected and used for breeding by her previous owners prior to this happy ending. Maggie was matched with a caring foster family where she could regain her strength. She was finally ready for adoption after months of recuperation.

Andra Mack told The Dodo, “She became one of the loveliest dogs we have ever fostered.” “My husband and I just stared at one other when Maggie met her new father because we knew. It was like something out of a movie.”

Mack knew she’d found the proper match the instant she saw Maggie meet the McCraws. Maggie couldn’t stop hugging them, as if to express her gratitude.

Mack stated, “They were intended to be together.” “I feel their old dog, Mischka, was gazing down on that reunion and smiling, as seen by the bright ray of sunshine in the video.”

The McCraws enthusiastically concur. They improved their lives after rescuing the beautiful pit bull.

“Maggie brightens everyone’s day and makes our lives better,” McCraw added. “It just makes the world a better place to look into those eyes.”
