A few fortunate visitors to the Memphis Zoo in Tennessee were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime event that they are certain to never forget. A female giraffe gave birth to her first child in front of them, and the entire touching event was captured on camera!
The giraffe was only due a few days later, so no one from the zoo staff actually expected the moment to come as early as it just did. But fortunately someone who was lucky enough to witness the event when it happened managed to record it as it all unfolded. In the short footage, you can see the mom searching for a perfect place to deliver her offspring.
And once the baby makes his entrance into the world, mom’s powerful instincts instantly start to kick in and she assumes her role as a care provider with the kind of love and compassion only a mom can offer.
Thanks to the baby’s immaculate health, the zoo keepers were spared from having to step in, enabling the new mother and her child to spend some valuable time leaping and enjoying one other’s company. Seeing a mother form such a special attachment with her child is always incredibly touching! Below is a video of the wonderful moment!
