Wild creatures should be given the opportunity to live the lives they deserve. Instead of living in cramped cages where they are compelled to entertain humans, they belong in the wild. These creatures may suffer challenges from nature and humans when they live in the wild, but they have freedom. At the very least, they aren’t being mistreated mentally. Even a jungle king’s hunger for survival may be quenched in captivity. It was such a horrible thing to see!
Thankfully, Lakhi the 60-year-old elephant in this story doesn’t meet that end. She was freed from cruel owners who forced her to parade around towns and temples in India for begging money.
The senior elephant was blind and tortured with a large lump on her head when she was discovered. Her former owners used to beat her and tie chains around her legs to prevent the poor animal from escaping. She gets no freedom and proper treatment.
Local authorities were forced to intervene after many locals and tourists had reported this. The poor animal had been forced to collect money for years. She is constantly exhausted and almost loses vision of one eye.
Following that, the Wildlife SOS team arrived to save Lakhi. They freed the elder elephant, who had been enslaved and tortured. At the sanctuary, she could finally relax and enjoy the rest of her life.
The elephant was transported to a wildlife sanctuary facility in Mathura, North India, by the rescue crew. They fed Lakhi fresh fruit and kept her hydrated with buckets of water over the 1,400-kilometer voyage.
‘It’s a long road to get there, but it’s nothing compared to the difficult,’ Wildlife SOS stated on their Facebook page. Lakhi has already encountered ships.
‘She has a lot of intelligence. She smelled the bananas in the caretaker’s pocket and stretched out with her trunk to get them when he closed his eyes for a little snooze on the vehicle.
Lakhi was later sent to the Wildlife SOS refuge, where she was secure. The aging blind elephant has a nice home where she receives love, care, and kindness. It was really simple to work with her because she was peaceful and liked her walks and baths so much.
