After putting their lives at risk to save a desperate moss from possible death, the two retired seekers are being hailed as heroes. Maurice Valliere and Pat Greba, both 70, rescued an unprotected apple stuck in a swamp near Timmins, Ontario, just days ago.

Valliere was at his home when he received a call from an 82-year-old acquaintance informing him that he had encountered an apple deep in the forest. The man tried to help the unfortunate animal himself but failed. Valliere initially tried to contact the Ministry of Northern Development, Mining, Natural Resources and Forestry by phone, but no one responded. So, worried, the brave man took matters into his own hands, naming his companion Greba, and the two rushed to help the terrified animal.

The two guys rushed to find the imprisoned moose, knowing that every second may have been crucial. They simply hopped on an ATV and followed their friend’s directions. However, it took over two hours for them to see it!

“I was at home when a friend called to say he’s in the wilderness doing soil samples and he’s found a moose 20 feet from the road,” Valliere told blogTO. “I couldn’t see anything when I came to the path,” Valliere adds. “Then I turned to the side and saw nothing but ahead.” ‘Holy Jesus, this thing is really stuck!’ I said. ‘He isn’t trapped; he is buried!’

The lads quickly saw that things were getting more problematic for the befuddled moose, who was barely keeping his head above water. So they attempted to calm him down first, and when they tried to drag him away.

“I felt so sorry for him. The guy stated, “His mouth was full of dirt, and his eyes were full of mud.” “He began to struggle back, attempting to reach me with his legs but failing to get high enough.”

Greba took some photos of the dramatic rescue, which were later posted on Facebook by another of their friends, Bill Desloges. The photographs demonstrate how tough the rescue must have been for both the unfortunate animal and the two heroic guys. Finally, the two heroes expressed their joy at being able to assist the unfortunate moose.
